Great in 2008!

SEFF 2007

Wow ....what a year!  We had 383 pilots come take in all flying they could stand with great weather and tons of things to do.  SEFF is truly a festival in every sense.  The entire weekend was action packed with fun and fellowship.

Pilots and spectators were thrilled to see a full vendor mall again with about 25 companies selling their products.  We really appreciate all the sponsors that come participate in SEFF each year.  The event would not be the same without you all.

The SEFF staff did an incredible job ensuring that everyone had a great time.  They worked extremely hard at preparing for SEFF and it was clear by all in attendance that our staff knows how to put on an air show.  Even though the event has grown significantly every year, the average pilot will be able to come participate and fly comfortably.

Thursday was the only seriously challenging day as the winds were quite strong.  The LMR glider contest had about 32 participants that braved the wind.  Open flying started at 3 pm Thursday and ran thru the rest of the weekend.  We had some pilots come from distant places such as Holland, England, Japan, Canada and even Alabama :-)

Radical RC hosted the annual poker tournament on Friday evening and Jeff Meyers decided to let someone else win for a change.  All the other pilots stayed out at the field Friday evening and enjoyed great weather and flew past dark.  We were blessed with very nice weather on Saturday and Sunday and hundreds of flights were logged.  Saturday evening we served a BBQ dinner to 400 guests and had an acoustic musician and live comedy show in the evening.  After the comedy show, Higher Plane Productions played a half hour film in high definition on a 14 ft screen.  Hopefully Fred will make some of the film available to those that did not get a chance to see it.

Our staff will get together in early June to start preparing for 2008.  We are excited about putting together a list of improvements to keep SEFF the World's largest and premier electric event.

Thanks for coming to SEFF 2007.  See ya'll next year!

SEFF 2006

Our 2006 event drew over 310 pilots from all over the country.  Our vendor mall was packed with e-flight goodies from some of the industry's top suppliers.  Radical RC hosted a poker tournament and we had about 30 players.  We served BBQ to 275 people.  They also enjoyed an English Extra Special Bitter brewed by world famous "Fast Freddie".  We had an incredible noon hour demo daily featuring some of the best pilots and models in the world.  Our raffle featured over $14K in amazing prizes.

We would like to thank Fred Midgett of Higher Plane Productions for creating a promotional video of the event.  If you've never been to SEFF...this video does a great job of offering a preview of what you can expect.  Below is the link to the video:

2003 Event Reports

The Fayette Flyers would like to thank all the pilots, sponsors and spectators that participated in SEFF 2003.  The coverage done by Quiet Flyer, Fly RC, The E Zone and RC Universe was more comprehensive than anything I can write here.  Therefore, the best option to learn about this year is to read the online articles and / or order the back issues of magazines.

2002 Event Report

Thanks to all the pilots, sponsors, exhibitors and spectators for supporting the first annual Southeast Electric Flight Festival. When we started working on the event nine months ago, we had no idea if many folks would attend. You did, and we are glad you came as this event was created for you. A large electric fun fly was long overdue for our part of the country. The Fayette Flyers worked very hard to put this event together and hope you all had a great time. Many of you expressed your appreciation to the club members. I know this meant a lot to the guys (and ladies).

Looking back, the weather seemed to only slightly inconvenience us throughout the weekend. For those that did not get blown away Friday morning...you were treated to a beautiful AND calm evening. The sunset was magnificent and the sky was filled with planes. (Exactly what I anticipated when we chose the late June date many months ago) Saturday was another story...but we had a good time. The demo flights were awesome! The weather forecast for Sunday did not look good. I arrived at the field a little before 8:00 and we had a few showers. By nine...the sun came out and we had a beautiful day of flying and demo flights.

Most pilots were able to get in a lot of stick time. We had a total of 130 pilots and over 900 spectators over the three days. (Not to mention the fact that some folks arrived as early as Wednesday) One thing I was pleased to see was the amount of quality models you all brought. There are many talented modelers out there.

Thanks again to all the sponsors.  Your support was instrumental in making this event possible.

We hope to see ya'll again in 2003!
