SEFF 2012 Field overview

Once again, Mac Hodges has generously offered his outstanding flying field as the host site for SEFF.  For those that have never been to this field, Mac's field will be a real treat for you.  It is one of the nicest flying facilities you could ever dream.  Mac's field is also home base for Hodges Hobbies in Andersonville, GA.  The field is huge.  The runway is over 1,700 feet long and approximately 200-300 feet deep.  The runway is a very smooth, short cut Bermuda grass. We are taking barefoot.  Just behind the flight line, you will find Mac's full service hobby shop.  Right next to the hobby shop is an aircraft hangar that serves as a spectator shade spot and event HQ area.  We will utilize some of the hangar for  pilot check in, vendor area and BBQ serving lines and what ever. IT is SHOW CENTER!

2012 FLYING PATTERN  Field Layout

Here is the new layout. So Stay Flexible Please! You know this is an absolutely fantastic site to fly on.

Mac has put in a new lake. Read this to clarify the changes from prior years!

We are adjusting to benefit the use of the field for the event.

We will still have a Spectacular Flying Site for the Week! Hang in there Ya All, The SOD is listening...

  • The dirt removed for digging of the lake was moved to fill in the low area on his runway.

  • The area highlighted on the picure is where the dirt was moved to and NEW SOD has been layed.

  •  That area will be in Great shape next year but for now it is a NO WALK ZONE.

  • The 3D area is bigger than before, it faces East so you only have morning Sun to contend with.

  • The Sport area is full WEST side of the field, Lots of room use the tree line as a marker.

  • The Park Flyers are infront of the shed as in prior years, be a good idea to stay to the left.

  •  Again using the tree line as a marker so you don't become styrofoam confette.

  • There are NO limits on the lake flying as long as it's Electric for now!!! We'll see how that goes! New for 2012. No this is not a link running out of colors so you see this.

  • The lake is filling and will be available.
