Meeting Minutes for November 21, 2002 by Ernie Schlumberger

Vice President, Tom Huckaby brought the meeting to order at 7:35p.m. with 16 members and 2 membership applicants in attendance. Tom filled in for President Tommy Vinci.[ had to eat something]

Officer Reports:

Secretary, Ernie Schlumberger reported that 39 renewals and 2 new members are current for 2003 membership.

Treasurer, David Zeigler announced that we will be closing the Dean Witter Account and putting that money into the club’s checking account due to fees that begin January 1. He then went over a new simplified monthly financial report for 2003. Many of the once-a-year expenses were combined and several field-related items were combined to give more room on one sheet of paper with an area for notes to explain items in detail.

Old Business:

Tom Huckaby then brought the 2003 officer nominations to a vote. All officers were voted in. Please welcome returning President, Tommy Vinci, Treasurer David Zeigler and Secretary Ernie Schlumberger along with New Vice President, Paul DeWaard as your 2003 Officer Team.

David Zeigler went over the proposed 2003 budget. All present were given a copy of the budget proposal. The 2003 budget showed a 2-year average of Income and Expenses and from that the proposed budget was adjusted for expected income and expected expenses for next year. The budget was voted on and passed.

Special Report:

New Vice President, Paul DeWaard gave a report on the status of our field. He said the field purchase had been completed and Weiland Homes is now the owner. Paul had a meeting with the person in charge of the Development Group that is working the property that includes our field. They plan to build a 20 Lot Subdivision on Coastline Road and a small Office/Building Park first then petition the county to rezone our field from 3 acre minimum build area down to 2 acre minimum build area. Right now, it looks like this coming March would be the earliest that we would have to leave the field but the rezoning could take longer. The Weiland Group also purchased a piece of property across Hwy 74 from our field that we could use for a field for the next 2-4 years due to that property is not scheduled to be developed until then. (Several members, including the officers looked at the property and it may not be suitable for gas powered planes. There are some homes too close and noise would be a factor.)

New Members:

This month we had 2 new members join our ranks. Please welcome Mike Downey and Bob Rendl to the Fayette Flyers.

Broken Prop:

"Aileronus Reversitus" ran rampant this month at our field. Bruce Thoman and Mike McGowan were awarded the Team Kamikaze Patch for reversed ailerons on a brand new Medalist (Pattern Plane) which caused the airplane to crash on takeoff.

Also, this month, Paul DeWaard was awarded a SAD Patch for multiple crashes in one night of indoor Tiger Moth flying. He repaired it, and crashed it at least 5 times.
