PRESIDENTS CORNER
Well, the year is almost over and we have made many improvements to our field this past year. Hopefully, we will make some more this coming year. Intentions are to improve the runway and add a couple more sections on to the shed. The hope of the officers and planners of all the events this past year is that those of you who attended and participated were pleased. We hope you are looking forward to the ones for this coming year. [planning committee will meet in January 2000]
There are many persons who need to be thanked for all of their efforts in making these events happen. I wish to thank every one of you who put your time and energy to make these a reality, you did GOOOOOOOD!!
Just a reminder for the coming year, if you bring up an idea or concept at the meetings, are you prepared to head it up and be the driving force behind the idea. I can assure you the officers need help and will most certainly make you head of the committee! [say that again]
Ernest Fleming has volunteered to head up a committee to seek out alternatives to our current runway. Please, if you can offer him help. Remember that he volunteered to head the committee, not be the committee! I am convinced that we will improve our situation.
Did you renew your membership yet? Dont forget!

Meeting Minutes for November 18, 1999 - by Ernie Schlumberger
Officer Reports:
Vice President, Randy Hawkins, started the meeting at 7:30p.m. with 12 members in attendance. Randy discussed the moving of the shed and the Porta Potty from the entrance of the fields parking lot. The shed was moved to the north end of the Flight Line and the Porta Potty was moved out to the clump of pine trees behind the parking lot. The Porta Potty is still visible as you drive in, but out of sight while flying. Randy then went over the plans for the Toys for Tots Fun Fly for Nov. 20th.
Treasurer, Roy Collins went over the clubs finances. We had $180.00 in expenses for November and $580 in receipts from membership renewal. This leaves the club with a total balance of $6763.70.
Youth Director, Dave Zeigler showed off a rubber band powered airplane that he designed that is very easy to build and is adjustable. The fuselage is split in half by a piece of a paper clip to make the tail adjustable for pitch and roll. Dave will kit this plane and develop a teaching program for the AMA to distribute to schools.
New Business:
Officer Voting: The current officers were confirmed for the 2000 membership, as was Dave Zeigler as the clubs new treasurer.
New Members:
This month, we had 1 new member apply to join. Elmer Mitchell could not attend so Bill Divens stood in for him.
The Pictures I threw on here this month were taken from a 35mm camera that Ernie Schlumberger rigged up with a servo and a simple rubber band attachment to one of the Foamy Paintball Telemasters. The camera had auto advance and fixed focus. It was aimed to shoot down the left wing and slightly down, thus no wing in the pictures. The gear switch on the Tx operated the camera.
Also on the same flight Ernie had rigged up a drop box to allow the dropping of 2 dozen plastic soldiers with parachutes for the kids. The chutes were made out of old plastic grocery bags, cut to size and lanyards made of fishing line. The camera was a success as I hope you can see from these 3 shots, even with the lack of Sun later in the day. The Parachute drop was a Hoot and the Kids were allowed to retrieve them after the plane made a pass and was well out of the way. They missed target some due to the lack of windage being miss judged, but all went well anyway.
Thanks Ernie and Clare for all your work on the Toys for Tots fun fly.
Toys for Tots Fun Fly by Ernie Schlumberger
Saturday, November 20th started out as a warm cloudy November day that gave way to the best conditions that could be hoped for in late November. Very light winds and low 70s prevailed all day.
This Fun Fly was an AMA sanctioned event with Mike McGowan as Contest Director. We had 34 registered AMA flyers from all over the southeast area.
We had many door prizes provided by The Hobby Stop, National Hobby of Marietta, The Hobby Haven of Conyers, The Hobby Shop of Stockbridge, Hobby Lobby International, Aveox Electric Flight Systems and Balsa USA. THANK YOU ALL.
The paintball event returned again this year and ran from 10:30 till almost 2:00p.m. We also had four other organized events this year: Combat, Spot Landing, Climb and Glide, and an All Up Last Down Electric event.
We had 8 combat pilots compete for prizes in several "heats". Kent Elder from the Conley Flyers cleaned up in the Combat and Climb and Glide competitions by taking 1st in both events. Fayette Flyers pilot, Steve Dukes took 1st place in the Spot Landing and All Up Last Down competitions. Fun was had by all that competed, and Im sure these events will be done again at other Fun Flys.
The Event raised about $900 in toys and cash donations. All cash was used to purchase new toys and turned in to the Caldwell Bankers collection point in Peachtree City. This was a very successful event see you all again next year, we'll make it even better.
Merry Christmas From the Fayette Flyers See you all in the Year 2000.
