Fayette Flyers Meeting Minutes for January 31, 2008

Meeting location:  Old Fayetteville high school         Members present:  9

Start time:  7:10 PM                                                    Member applicants/guests:  0/2

Officer Reports:

Treasurer report- David Keller went over the 2007 year end finance report and the January report.  He also prepared a 2008 budget and went over that with the club members.

 Secretary-Ernie Schlumberger reported that the club has had 42 out of the 53 members renew from last year.

Vice President Randy Hawkins said that he would be updating the clubs website with the club officers contact info so members could contact them if needed.  He also said that the clubs donation of $1000 to the local boy scouts group went to good use in buying phone cards to be given to the troops overseas so they could call home over the holidays.  Randy then mentioned some upcoming events such as the Perry swap meet will be held on Feb. 29th and March 1st.  The Toledo show is held on April 4-6 and our clubs big event (SEFF) will be held on May 1-4.

President-Tommy Vinci said that the Honey Baked Ham gift certificates given to the fields’ neighbors were well received, even better than the hams we gave them last year.

Old Business: None.

New Business: Tommy Vinci told the club members that the officers met before the club meeting and discussed ideas to increase our membership and activity in the club.  The officers came up with the recommendations to eliminate the initiation fee and lower our club dues to $50.00 for 2008.  The club voted on the motion and it was seconded and passed.  Next month we will vote on it to be a change to our bylaws.  Members can either get $50 back at the next meeting or it will be applied to the 2009 dues.

     The club officers also put together a 2008 calendar of events and discussed them with the members.  The event calendar will be put up on the website and members will get update emails when events are coming up.

     The officers nominated Tom Huckaby for a lifetime membership since he’s been a Fayette Flyer since the clubs inception.  Also nominated was Jeff Meyers for his hard work with SEFF each year.  He was nominated for a complimentary membership for as long as he runs SEFF.  Both nominations were passed.

New Members:  None.  We had 2 guests tell a little about themselves and showed a lot of interest in joining our club.  One guest brought up the AMA’s new Park Pilot program and asked if that would be good enough to qualify for AMA insurance to join a sanctioned club.  Secretary Ernie Schlumberger said he would look into it with the AMA. {AMA website shows that the Park Pilot insurance will cover pilots that fly electric and rubber powered planes that weigh less than 2lbs and fly less than 60 mph.  They can belong to an AMA sanctioned club as long as the planes still fall into the above category.  Our club will need to discuss this at the next meeting and put something in our bylaws covering this program.}

Broken Prop Award:  None this month.
