Attention! Attention! Attention! Attention!
I decided to leave the header from last time, liked the way it looked! Man, the summer has really gone by quickly this year. There are still some improvements to be made to the field, such as replacing the barrier and extending the shed a couple of sections, all I can say is trust us. It is coming, work [real jobs that pay money] has slowed down a little for your "work crew" and improvements are shortly forthcoming.
I just came home from our fall edition of the family cookout and although it started off a little slowly it appears to have been another success. Wind was up somewhat, but not too bad and the food was great! Thanks again to Charles and David (I wonder if they have thought of opening up a dinner), great job guys! [BB Chicken and all the Fixens was GREAT!]
I must say that my good friends (I think) Bill, Randy, Ernie and Clare got me. It was my birthday [49] and Clare snuck off and got a cake and some ice cream and had everyone sing happy birthday to me! I appreciate it and I will be watching the dates guys (and gal)![Nov 20something...]
Night Sky lit up with NIGHT FLY!!!! by Clare Schlumberger
This years last scheduled Night Fly at the field was spectacular. Were not talking 10 lights in the plane, not 30 lights try more like 65 in the Skimmer 400 flown by Clare Schlumberger, 85 in the PT Electric flown by Ernie Schlumberger and 110 in the Playboy flown by Randy Hawkins. And this time there was music to accompany the flights. We also had a visitor drive down the gravel road to check out the planes, which could be seen from the main road. If you have never flown at night it opens up a new thought of flying that brings both fun and a little anxiousness to the pilot. Consider using the upcoming winter months putting together a Night Flyer for the Spring event. It is not that difficult and the thrill of achievement is very satisfying. If you are interested in building a Night flyer and have questions, please contact any of the officers for help. Lets see if we can make the Spring Night Fly the BIGGEST AND BEST EVER.
Meeting Minutes for August 31, 2000 by Ernie Schlumberger
This meeting was held at the Highschool due to rain.
Officer Reports:
President, Tommy Vinci brought the meeting to order at 7:40pm., with 23 members, 3 guests and 3 member applicants in attendance. Tommy announced that the Flypaper is now available only online. Next, he talked about the October AMA Magazine Article and photo of Dave Zeigler and Mike Brennsion, and that Dave has already had 100 requests for his newly designed kit.
Treasurer, Dave Zeigler went over the Clubs finances for the month of August. The club had $1355.27 in expenses, $0 in receipts, which left $5809.67 in total. The expenses included $1000 donation to "Winshape Homes" and field maintenance.
Tommy then talked about the upcoming events, which include the September 7th, Sailplane Day 9am-1pm and (the formerly known as) Toys for Tots Fun Fly on Nov. 18th. The Club will rename the event to reflect the "Winshape Homes" Charity, which will receive all proceeds. Landing fees will be $10 cash instead of a toy donation.
Tommy then read his recent "Flypaper" article, which discussed field safety rules violations happening at the field. Some discussion began, but everyone was in agreement that all members are safety officers and its up to us to police the field.
New Business:
The issue of training New Pilots came up and sparked a long discussion, which included several ideas. 1) The need for a detailed list of trainers is needed. 2) New members should have a check flight with an instructor prior to getting a key and possibly have different color sticker on their AMA card until they do. 3) A meeting of all trainers prior to the next club meeting. 4) The need for a standard flight log that all instructors could use.
Next, Doug Hallberg mentioned that the Ga. Jets Club, that flies at the Warm Springs airport, is looking into buying some property somewhere south of our field to put a flying site because they may lose their field.
Vice President, Randy Hawkins, then presented the trophies from the May Electric Sailplane Event [Mike was out of town] to Tommy Vinci, Ernie Schlumberger and Clare Schlumberger. Earl Robinson had received his trophy at this years NATS already.
New Members:
This month we welcomed 3 new members to our club. Please welcome Robert Barczynski, Michael Wisdom and Scott Cannady to the Fayette Flyers.
Broken Prop:
None nominated. [Your NOT trying hard enough...]
Meeting Minutes for September 28, 2000 by Ernie Schlumberger
Officer Reports:
Vice President, Randy Hawkins, brought the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. with 35+ members, 2 guests and 6 member applicants.
Treasurer, Dave Zeigler, went over the September finances. The club had receipts of $255 in membership dues and $360 in expenses, leaving an overall balance of $5703.67.
Randy then reminded members that this was the last meeting at the field for this year. Next month we will meet at the Old Fayetteville Highschool. Also, the AMA and Club membership renewal period begins October 1st through December 31st. This year a shortened renewal form will be mailed to all members. This form will have a place to update the frequencies used and Email addresses. Randy also reminded everyone of the Night Fly to be held after the meeting tonight.
Upcoming Events will include the October 7th Fun Fly/Cookout in which the club will provide the main food and drinks and members are asked to bring a covered dish with accompanying serving utensil. This years (formerly Toys for Tots) "Winshape Homes" Charity Fly will be held on November 18th. It will include the Paintball event again. It was discussed about the club buying a couple of paintball guns to have for these events in the future. Nothing was decided though.
Old Business:
Training. A meeting of 13 trainers took place just prior to the club meeting. A Trainers List will be coming out with the Instructors names/phone numbers/primary available training times/radio equipment used. It was decided to have the club obtain a set of buddy cords for all radios and a Futaba Buddy Box to keep at the field for the trainers to use. It also was decided to do all training by Appointment and no training on Sundays after 12p.m. if it is busy at the field. New members will have a "Rookie" pilot membership sticker on their AMA Cards and will not receive their keys until they have passed a proficiency check with the instructor.[ALLLL of this should be in place by the year 2001]
New Business:
Earl Robinson and other members mentioned that some four wheelers have been riding around our field. Earl was asked to contact local police to see what we have to do to stop this. Tom Huckaby will also discuss this with the Field owners Rep.
New Members:
This month we welcomed 6 new members. Please welcome Bernie Ortman, Elliot McCaskill, Raymond Ewers, Bradley Werho, Jim Dozier and Bill and Jake Boro.
